A Man’s Gift Makes a Way for Him

A Man’s Gift Makes a Way for Him

Bible Reading: Daniel 5

Special Verse

Daniel 5:12 He did this because Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.”

It is common to  assume it is a lucky break that brings people to prominence. The fact it that “lucky breaks”  only happen for people that are prepared to cash in on opportunities when they present themselves. Daniel didn't have a lucky break. His opportunity to shine came in chapter 1 when he chose not to eat the king's food but stick to a Mosaic diet. As a result of having a backbone, God honored him. However, after King Nebuchadnezzar died and his son took over, he was no longer in a position of leadership.

Just like a ball can't stay under water but would always rise to the top, his gift couldn't be hidden. God gave him yet another opportunity to be promoted by sending the hand to write on the wall.

Daniel never used his gifts because he wanted a promotion or financial reward but he always got both. God's gifts aren't primarily for gain but for his glory. As we diligently seek to honor God and use our giftings to please him, promotion will definitely find us.
