Abstinence From Sin Doesn’t Secure Your Salvation

Bible Reading:

Special Verse:

Abstaining from sin does not secure your salvation—either before you are born again or after you become a child of God. Relying on your own actions to achieve salvation is what the Bible refers to as self-righteousness. True salvation comes only from God through faith in Jesus Christ, and it is this gift of grace that secures your eternal destiny.

Is it important for children of God to abstain from sin? Absolutely! However, this is not to earn a place in heaven but for other vital reasons. Among many, here are two:

  1. To avoid giving Satan a foothold in their lives. Sin opens the door to spiritual bondage and hinders the abundant life God desires for us.

  2. To honor the name of Jesus. As believers, our lives should reflect the sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation, bringing Him glory rather than shame.

While abstaining from sin is crucial, remember that it is the grace of God through faith in Christ that secures our salvation—not our efforts
