Bible Reading: Genesis 17:1-9
Memory Verse: Romans 4:17 (NIV)
“As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.”
Consider this: Abram, a man from a lineage of idol worshippers, was called by God to become great and transform the world. When God called him, Abram wasn’t a righteous man, but because he chose to believe God, righteousness was credited to him. His purpose had been planned long before his birth, regardless of what he was doing at the time he first encountered God.
What’s amazing is that, in God’s eyes, Abram was already “a father of many nations,” even when he was still childless. Abram had no say in the purpose God had for him. However, for that purpose to become a reality, he had to agree with God and speak it into existence. This is why God changed his name from Abram to Abraham, reinforcing the promise through his identity.
Human reasoning and physical senses cannot connect with the purposes of God in our lives. Had Abram relied solely on his natural understanding, he would have missed out on what God had for him. But he accepted that God’s invisible power was the game changer. God's plans for our lives are already settled in heaven, and our lives will be measured by that plan, not by what we assume we should do.
I challenge you today to believe God, seek His revelation of your purpose, and agree with Him to see it fulfilled in your life.
