Special Verse
Proverbs 5:23
“He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.”
When tragedy strikes—whether moral, emotional, or physical—many people instinctively ask, “Why did God allow this to happen?” We often assume that every painful outcome is something God permitted, when in reality, Scripture teaches that some destruction is the direct result of our own choices.
In Proverbs 5, the writer gives a series of warnings—particularly to men—about the dangers of sexual immorality. He urges them:
-
“Let your fountain be blessed.”
-
“Why be intoxicated with a forbidden woman?”
These are not casual suggestions; they are spiritual safeguards meant to prevent self-destruction. Countless lives, marriages, and destinies have been shattered—not because God failed to protect, but because individuals ignored wisdom, discipline, and boundaries.
We live in a culture that celebrates what God warns us against. Sexual immorality is praised, normalized, and glamorized. But Scripture is clear:
“The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.” — Proverbs 5:22
Sin is never harmless.
Sin is never accidental.
Sin is never without consequences.
No one falls into sexual sin—it is always the result of unguarded steps, a series of small compromises that eventually lead to ruin. If we do not deliberately choose discipline, purity, and wisdom, we will inevitably drift toward destruction.
Reflection
What choices are you making today?
Are you taking the steps necessary to guard your heart, your mind, and your relationships?
Are you walking toward life—or toward a trap that will eventually hold you captive?
Sexual immorality is not just wrong—it is deadly. But God, in His mercy, warns us before it destroys us.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to the paths that lead to destruction. Give me discipline, wisdom, and strength to walk in purity. Help me choose life, holiness, and obedience in every area of my life. Amen.
