“Because You Say So” Faith Is Born in Fellowship

“Because You Say So” Faith Is Born in Fellowship

Bible Reading: Luke 5:1–11;

Special Verse : Daniel 11:32

Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall [a]corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

Peter was a skilled fisherman. He had experience, knowledge, and effort—yet he caught nothing. Then Jesus spoke a word that seemed unreasonable: “Launch out into the deep… let down your nets.” Peter responded with a powerful statement: “Nevertheless, at Your word….”

That is what happens when you’ve been with Jesus. Fellowship gives you a new lens. His presence builds faith. His Word stretches your capacity to believe beyond your past disappointments. You begin to obey God even when your logic says, “This won’t work.”

Peter watched Jesus teach. Faith rose. Then he acted on the Word—and the miracle came: so much fish the nets began to break. And that encounter exposed something deeper: Peter suddenly saw his own limitations and Jesus’ greatness. He fell down and said, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man.” Encounters do that. They humble you. They strip self-confidence and replace it with holy surrender.

Then Jesus gave him purpose: “From now on you will catch men.” Fish don’t swim into the fisherman’s house—the fisherman goes out to find them. In the same way, disciples don’t stay comfortable. After being with Jesus, we are sent: to the highways, the byways, the broken, the overlooked—the people who need the good news.

Those who know their God will be strong and do exploits. But exploits are not the starting point. Fellowship is.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to obey Your Word even when I don’t understand. Make me a fisher of men. Let my life be a reflection of your heart to  people. Amen.

Reflection: What “launch into the deep” instruction has God been nudging you to obey lately—ministry, evangelism, prayer, forgiveness, or faith for something bigger?
