Born Again: A Different Kind of Birth

The Special Verse: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3, KJV)
REFLECTION:
Being born again is a game changer. It’s a different kind of birth altogether.
Our natural birth brought us into a world of pain and death — subject to corruption. But our new birth gives us hope and life. If Jesus hadn’t risen from the dead, we’d be no different from any other religion, still waiting on a dead founder to somehow save us.
But His resurrection ushered us into God’s abundant life. Our inheritance is incorruptible — it can’t be tampered with, because it’s kept in heaven. And here’s what’s easy to miss: this inheritance isn’t just for the sweet by and by. It’s for right now. We can access it in the present because we have already been caused to sit in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6, KJV)
Think about how many people make restaurant and hotel reservations. They don’t build the kitchen, cook the meal, or make the bed. All they have to do is show up — and everything is ready for them to enjoy. That’s exactly what God did for us with our inheritance. He has already prepared it, already reserved it, already made it ready. We’re not earning it or assembling it ourselves. We simply have to show up in faith and walk into what’s already been secured.
We are living in the last age — and we have access to God’s salvation through revelation by the Spirit of God. But we can’t make that connection to our inheritance if we aren’t tuned to the Holy Spirit.
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, KJV)
And salvation is so much bigger than we often make it. Salvation means to be delivered out of destruction into safety. It means rescued, healed, made whole, and preserved. It’s not just a ticket to heaven when we die — it’s God’s complete work of pulling us out of danger and restoring every broken part of us, right now.
The only way we can live joyfully is when we know what is already ours in Christ — regardless of the trials that come our way. As we stand strong in faith, we’re receiving the end of that faith, which is our salvation — our deliverance, our rescue, our healing, our wholeness, our preservation.

1. Do you live each day as though your inheritance in Christ is only for the future, or do you access its hope, joy, and strength in the present?
2. Like a reservation already made, God has prepared your inheritance. Are you showing up to receive it, or are you still trying to earn what’s already yours?
3. Salvation means being delivered, rescued, healed, made whole, and preserved. Which of these do you need to receive from God today?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the abundant mercy that begot me again unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thank You that my inheritance is incorruptible, undefiled, and reserved in heaven — already prepared, just waiting for me to show up in faith. Tune my heart to Your Spirit so I can lay hold of everything You’ve prepared for me. Thank You that Your salvation delivers me out of destruction into safety — that I am rescued, healed, made whole, and preserved in You.
