Called to Live Holy

Called to Live Holy

Called to Live Holy

Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:13–21
 Memory Verse: 1 Peter 1:17

Becoming a Christian does not take away our ability to choose. Daily, we make choices about what we engage in. The good news is that sin and its lusts no longer have a hold on us. We are dead to sin.  God commands us to be holy, meaning set apart, because our Heavenly Father is holy. He does not let Himself be contaminated with evil. We are also set apart for special work on earth, and we will eventually be judged for what we used our bodies on earth to do.

This truth should sober everyone who names the name of Christ concerning how we live our lives daily. This life isn’t a dress rehearsal. We don’t get to do it over. Every second on earth counts and has eternal consequences.  The precious blood of Christ was used to purchase this life for us, and it is critical that we don’t waste it. Our lives belong to the One who paid the price for them.

The good news is that we can’t earn a place in heaven by doing good works. Salvation is 100% free. However, as believers, we will be rewarded according to how we lived and what we did with the life God gave us.
Therefore, we should live with eternity in view. Our choices, our time, our bodies, and our opportunities matter. We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus. Let us live lives that reflect the value of the price that was paid for us.

Nugget of Truth:
Salvation is free, but how we live our lives has eternal consequences.
