Bible Reading: Luke 9: 21-27
Memory verse: John 8:3, 1 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
Why are so many Christians in bondage? From here we see that it is our lack knowledge of the truth that keeps us in bondage. Secondly, this comes from holding onto the teachings of the world rather than God’s. When we hold onto God’s word, it makes you his disciple. Who then is a disciple? Someone who has denied himself (refused to be ruled by the flesh/self but the word of God). Someone who daily takes up their cross- takes up God’s purpose, contrary to their own plan on a daily basis and follows Jesus. Jesus is the good shepherd and following him leads to freedom and abundant pastures.
Discipleship isn’t a word to be shunned but embraced with joy because therein is your freedom and abundance.
Do not believe the lie that total surrender to the word will make you miserable that is the opposite. It will give you the best life possible.
