Faith In the Midst of Divine Purpose

Faith In the Midst of Divine Purpose

BIBLE READING : LUKE 2:9-15

Special Verse: Luke 1:38

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

The story of Jesus' birth is truly extraordinary. The events leading up to it are beyond human understanding. Even the prophets who foretold His coming couldn't fully grasp the significance of their own prophecies. Mary and Joseph had to embrace the prophetic word about a virgin birth with faith. It must have been particularly challenging for Joseph, who had only a dream and Mary's word to rely on. Armed with just these and his knowledge of the Torah concerning the coming Savior, Joseph had to withstand the mockery of others.

Their trials didn’t end there. When the time came for Jesus to be born, they couldn’t even find a room at the inn. We might question why God allowed them to face such difficulties. Even though Joseph and Mary were perfectly aligned with God's will, they still didn’t have a proper place to bring their purpose into the world.

Take heart, knowing that when you're fulfilling God's purpose, you may encounter hardships and embarrassing situations beyond your control. But don’t lose faith in your calling—God will fulfill His promises to you. As long as you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit each day, you can echo Mary's words: "Be it unto me according to your word."
