Faith Over Fear in Every Storm

Faith Over Fear in Every Storm

Scripture Reading:
Mark 4:35–41

Special Verse: John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

This passage is deeply revealing. Jesus knew the storm was coming, yet He still said, “Let us go to the other side.” This was not ignorance — it was intention. He deliberately led them into a situation that would challenge their faith.

What is remarkable is that Jesus was asleep in the middle of the storm. The boat was filling with water. According to another account, the disciples were bailing water desperately. Fear took over, and they assumed that because Jesus was quiet, He did not care. But Jesus was not disturbed because He was not threatened. The storm did not alarm Him because He already knew the outcome.

When Jesus rebuked the storm, He did not only address the wind and waves — He also confronted the disciples’ fear. Their question, “Don’t You care?” revealed more than panic; it revealed uncertainty about His love and authority.   Storms do not mean God is absent. Silence does not mean indifference. Jesus being asleep in the boat was not a sign of neglect — it was an invitation for the disciples to grow in faith. Whenever we are faced with life’s challenges, it is an opportunity to walk in faith not fear and see God’s word work to rescue you from every attack.
