Bible Reading: Matthew 7:7-12
Memory Verse: Matthew 7:11 (NIV)
“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
It’s easy to take verse 7 out of context and think that whatever we ask for will be given to us. However, when we read the surrounding verses, it becomes clear that God only gives us good gifts—things that are for our benefit and will not harm us. This leads to an important question: How can I know what is truly good for me?
That’s why Jesus instructs us to abide in Him and let His Word abide in us. When we do both, the Holy Spirit reveals God’s will to us, helping us understand what we should ask for. This way, we can pray with boldness and confidence, knowing we are aligned with God’s will.
Spending time in God’s Word to understand His character is crucial. Praying in the Holy Spirit and allowing your spirit to connect with God is essential for living a powerful and effective prayer life.
