Fight for God’s Promises

Fight for God’s Promises

Bible Reading: Joshua 14:1-15

Memory verses: 1 Timothy 1:18-19, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck”

Joshua 14:7 says, “I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.” This was Caleb at the age of 85 speaking to Joshua, his colleague and leader, about the mount of Hebron which the Lord had promised him through Moses when he was only 40 years old. Caleb and Joshua, although faithful to God, had suffered part of the consequences of the unbelief of 10 other spies. They had to wonder in the desert with the Israelites for 40 years. All the adults 20 years and above died except both of them, yet he never became bitter nor did he forget God’s promises to him. His attitude was, no matter how long it takes, I shall possess my possession. At 85, age was not going to be a hindrance.

We need to always remember that God knows the end from the beginning, and when He makes a promise, He is aware of the circumstances that may work against it. He expects us to hold to His word regardless of the circumstances, be ready to fight the giants of fear and unbelief with His word. God has promised that if you stand your ground and fight in faith, it will definitely work out for your good. Do not give up, fight. Never forget that God knows the end
