Bible Reading: Daniel 4
Memory verse: 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us , not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
The story of King Nebuchadnezzar is one that clearly shows that God has no pleasure in the death of a sinner. God is as interested in saving the high as he is the low. This king had gone as far as conquering all the known world of his time. He also built an image of himself 90 feet tall, made of solid gold and commanded everybody to worship it. He was the epitome of pride and arrogance, yet God preserved his life. God continued to reveal himself to him through visions and dreams, so as to bring Daniel his way to tell him about the only true God. But King Nebuchadnezzar continued to harden his heart to God.
At the end of Daniel 4, you see the king proclaiming Jehovah as the only true God. This is the last thing we read about the king in the book of Daniel. Is it possible that we will meet King Nebuchadnezzar in heaven? This story teaches us not to give up or count out anyone. The Holy Spirit is the one that convicts, ours is to take the power of God and his word to the unsaved.
