Bible Reading: Nehemiah 9:18-21
Memory verse: Nehemiah 9:21 “Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell.”
Think about how annoying my children are sometimes, even being defiant towards my instructions, yet I never deny them the basic necessities of life. My motherly instinct tells me it’s my responsibility to provide them. In like manner, although the children of Israel rebelled against God for the 40 years that they were in the wilderness, God never turned His back on them. He looked for every opportunity to love on them by providing their daily needs. He always ensured they had all they needed, even when they doubted His goodness and ability to provide. God is great in compassion and wants to be good to us, His children.
I am learning that the best way to come to God is as His child, not on the basis of my works - giving, service, and good behavior. I ask based on the finished work of Jesus. I do not pray for finances based on my tithing but on Jesus. Think mercy and grace, you will see what great things will come your way. Thank you, Jesus, for the cross.
