BIBLE READING : 1 KING 3:4-13
Special Verse: 2 Chrionicles 16:
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
History has it that Solomon was appointed king of Israel when he was only twelve years old. You wonder why God choose a twelve year old instead of his seasoned soldier brothers. However, when you look at his prayer in this chapter, you can see he had a heart for GOD. He understood early in life that to be successful, he needed divine direction. An understanding heart in this sense is one that is responsive to God. A heart that is focused on doing God's will. We all know that life is complicated and full of surprises. To be able to navigate the complexities of life, we need the one who knows the end from the beginning directing us.
You may be one of those that believe it is your responsibility to figure things out. I encourage you today to be like Solomon, humble yourself and ask God to give you a discerning and listening heart. By yielding to the Spirit through the word of God, you will save yourself a lot of trouble, heartache and even money . God cares enough to direct you, he doesn't want you going through life blindly.
