Bible Reading: Matthew 5:14-16
Memory verse: James 2:20, “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”
Throughout the Bible, God desires that His children live righteously, this is for several reasons:
• Jesus is risen and now in heaven, we are the Jesus people will see, let us represent Him well Matthew 5: 14-16.
• We are the salt of the earth, the world is rotting away. By being salt, we stop the process of decay. By being light, we push back the darkness.
• Without righteous works, your faith is dead, and your Christianity is questionable James 2:20-21. True faith in a living and righteous God produces righteous works.
• He will reward our acts of righteousness done from a heart of faith Revelations 22:12; 1 Corinthians 3:12-15. However, never confuse salvation is a free gift, which is different from eternal rewards. When we are truly saved, like Paul, we will discipline ourselves, and desire to run the race that is set before us by living righteously.
