Bible Reading : Psalm 23
Special Verse: Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
A popular proverb says, “He that pays the piper dictates the tune.” This means that the one who provides for you ultimately has control over your life.
Philippians 4:19 assures us with the promise: “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” These needs include health, finances, emotions, academics, and more. When God is your provider, He can guide your life and influence your choices for His purpose.
However, God desires that His children depend solely on Him, not on systems, governments, families, or financial institutions. When we rely on these instead of God, they can take control of our lives and, in effect, become “gods” to us. This misplaced dependence can make it difficult to fully obey God, as our loyalty becomes divided.
Jesus warned us about this in Matthew 6:24, saying, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
In challenging times, carefully examine your source of provision. Let God be God in your life, your sole provider, and your ultimate guide. Trust in Him alone, and you will experience His faithfulness.
