Bible Reading: Colossians 2
Memory verse: Colossians 1:12, “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”
How glorious it is when we come to the realization that it is our heavenly father who has qualified us to share and partake in the inheritance, not ourselves. Religion tells us we must do stuff to earn our part or benefit from our kingdom blessings, but that is not true. We are already qualified by God. We are already seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, but many of us are trying to sit in a seat when we are already seated.
That is a big irony. We should not try to please God to get blessed, however, we should do things because we are blessed already. We have been called to live out what is in us. We already have it! Praise God! Think about the story of the prodigal son in the Gospel of Luke 15. There were two sons, the younger one walked away and lived riotously while the older one stayed home, obeyed his father yet didn’t know his sonship rights. He saw himself as a slave, not an owner of his father’s wealth. This caused him to resent his father. The younger son was happy to receive abundance from his father, although he was not deserving of it, His father qualified him, and that was the most important thing. We are qualified as children of God, let us enjoy the party.
