Bible Reading: John 10:3-10
Memory verses: Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
I was on a journey with my daughter, before we left, I decided to enter the address on the GPS, the journey would take us 2 hours and 56 minutes. However, I was told that I could stop at a shop to get some discount coupons for my journey, but deep inside, the Spirit was reminding me that I could get a discount using my AAA card. I drove to the store, picked up the coupons, and decided to take the nearest highway instead of following the gentle nodding of the Holy Spirit to turn around and head towards the expressway. To cut a long story short, this decision threw me into a traffic that added an hour to my trip, and I ended up not using the coupons. I really started to get upset with myself for not listening to God but He gently taught me something out of it.
Many times, we ignore God’s gentle promptings deciding to do things our way, and when things go wrong, other people suffer the consequences of our choices along with us (like my daughter who had to stay an extra hour in the traffic). God will never force us to obey or listen to His promptings but if we do, we will make our life’s journey more peaceful and worthwhile, for us and those in our lives.
