Bible Reading: Acts 5:1-10
Special Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:7
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Reflection:
The church has been entrusted with the responsibility of meeting the needs of the less fortunate. In Acts 2 and 3, we see believers supporting one another, not relying on a government system to advance the kingdom. Every believer is part of the church, and when we truly understand what Christ has done for us, giving—whether it be tithing or beyond—should not be a struggle.
Everything we have belongs to God, and we should seek His guidance in our giving rather than limiting ourselves to a set percentage. Instead of debating tithing, we should focus on the heart behind our generosity. As Peter told Ananias in Acts 5:4, his property was his both before and after the sale—yet his downfall was not about the amount he gave, but the condition of his heart.
God values the sincerity of our giving more than the number. Those who give should do so willingly and cheerfully, for anything given grudgingly is in vain. Our giving should be driven by faith, love, obedience, and gratitude—not fear of condemnation.
