Bible reading: John 15: 4-8
Memory verse: John 15:4, “Abide in Me, as I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in me.”
This verse is not talking about you being the producer of fruit, rather it means you carrying the fruit produced by the very life of God flowing from Jesus to you. Why is this key? because many Christians are trying to produce fruit of righteousness by their own self effort and are failing. Apart from Jesus/the Word of God we can do nothing. Every plant 24/7 receives nourishment from the vine, once it disconnects, it will wilt and die. In the same manner stay connected to the word of God/Jesus and watch the Holy Spirit produce his fruit in you and you as the branch will display it for the world to see. This process is effortless when you are connected to the Word of God.
