Jesus is the Mediator of a New and Better Covenant

Bible Reading: Hebrews 8:6-13

Memory verse: Hebrews 8:6, “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.”

In the book of Hebrews, we see the awesome work Jesus did for us when he shed his blood on the cross. Under the Law of Moses, you must obey to the letter to qualify for God’s blessings. Thank God for Jesus! The truth of the gospel is that Jesus paid for all of our sins, past, present, and future. If you think this is heresy, I want to ask you, “Were you alive when He died? How many sins did you commit prior to His death?” This shows that Jesus paid for our sins in advance even before they were committed. So, He does not go back each time we sin to obtain forgiveness for us. We are eternally redeemed and remain His children as long as we have the Holy Spirit with whom we are sealed for the day of redemption.

These scriptures clearly let us know that we are no longer under the covenant of Moses but under the new covenant. The Law of Moses was given not to make us holy but to help us see our in ability to please God. Jesus came and paid it all, so that we do not have to pay for our sins ourselves or even make heaven by our effort. When we know who we are and what has been done for us, we live God-glorifying lives.

Our children do not bear our names because they behave like us or look like us, rather, it is because they have our DNA. To live lives that glorify God, we must truly know that we are children of God. Salvation is free; however, for fulfilling our calling, God will reward us. This truth is liberating and does not make you want to sin but to love God even more. Grace does not give you reason to sin but to want to know Jesus more
