Jesus is the Perfect Lamb that was Slain for Our Sins

Bible Reading: Leviticus 1:2-6

Memory verse: Hebrews 9:26, “He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”

During a school field trip to a farm, the children were overjoyed to pat the animals. We used the opportunity to remind them that Jesus is the spotless Lamb that was slain. We asked them to look out for any spotless sheep at the farm. Unfortunately, there was none. This had me wondering how difficult and burdensome it must have been for the Israelites to get the perfect animal for sacrifice each time they needed to atone for their sins. This burden was what Jesus took away from us through the shedding of His blood.

Hebrews 9:25-26 state, “Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.” There is no amount of work or self-effort that can take care of our sins. Forgiveness of sin is free, learn to receive it by faith, and above all, forgive yourself for your sins. Have you realized that after getting saved, it is more difficult to forgive yourself when you sin than before? No matter when the sin occurred, the payment is the same - the blood of Jesus. Receive it.
