Listen for his voice always

Listen for his voice always

Special Verse: Proverbs 12:15

The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Reflection

The scripture for today reminds us that we do not know everything, and it is foolish to believe we have everything figured out. Consequently, we must always seek counsel and listen to godly advice. However, we must be careful about the source of that advice. The safest counsel comes from the Word of God and from people who love and fear Him.

Even from people who fear God, we might still receive wrong counsel. To ensure the advice we receive is right, we must know the Word of God and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Even when people have good intentions with their counsel, if what they tell you about a situation does not resonate with your spirit, it is vital to take time to pray over it and seek peace about your actions. It is dangerous to act simply based on someone else's advice if it has not settled in your spirit.

I recall an individual who was dealing with infidelity and verbal abuse in their marriage. They were advised to leave, which would not have gone against scripture. However, as she prayed and listened for God's voice, the Holy Spirit instructed her to fight for her marriage and be patient in the difficult situation. To God be the glory, her obedience resulted in the restoration of her marriage. The lesson here is that God always has a specific word for you, which you will receive as you seek His counsel, and that word will always bring inner peace.
