BIBLE READING : GENESIS 2:1-15
Special Verse: 1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The story of creation is a source of comfort and inspiration. It reminds us that God never intended for humanity to lack anything. However, many people grow up with a mindset of scarcity. In church, we often pray for God to consider us worthy of His blessings, but when we look at the account in Genesis 2, it becomes clear that God's provision was always there—long before humanity came into being. Even before Adam and Eve were created, God had already prepared everything they would need in the Garden of Eden. Their only responsibility was to oversee and manage what had been provided.
God ensured they had food, water, work, and even gold, a symbol of financial wealth. In His infinite wisdom, knowing they would one day need it, He placed gold and precious stones, such as onyx and bdellium, in the garden. Just as there is gold in heaven, God made it accessible to them on earth. Additionally, God entrusted Adam with the task of naming the animals, giving him the authority to speak over them.
Through the death of Jesus, we are restored to our original position—able to rule and reign as kings over God's creation. By embracing our identity as God's children, we can step into the fullness of the abundant life He intended for us from the beginning.
