Bible Reading: Romans 6:1–14
Special Verse: Galatians 2:20
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
One of the things that often troubles religious people about the message of grace is the fear that grace somehow gives people permission to sin. They assume that if believers are told that all their sins—past, present, and future—have been forgiven, it will encourage sinful living. But the truth is this: people do not need a license to sin. Anyone who is determined to sin will do so regardless.
What we must understand is the vital role we play in how we live our lives. Neither God nor Satan can force anyone to act against their will. Living righteously or living sinfully is a daily choice. Every believer must grasp that God has empowered us to say “no” to sin.
Paul reminds the Romans in Romans 6:12 not to offer their bodies as instruments of unrighteousness, but instead to present them to God. Our “members”—our eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, and even our sexual organs—are tools that can either serve God or serve sin. Moment by moment, we decide who gets to use us. It is our responsibility to choose righteousness.
We are saved and called to live a holy life, not by our own strength but by allowing Jesus to live through us and use our physical bodies to glorify God. Grace does not empower sin—grace empowers holiness. Grace teaches us to reject sin and every form of ungodliness.
Today, I challenge you to live with the consciousness of the power God’s grace has given you. Sin has no dominion over a child of God. Let your life bring honor and glory to Him as you choose righteousness daily.
