Bible Reading: Matthew 6: 25-34
Special Verse: Matthew 6: 26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
One of Jesus' remedies for worry is His advice to “consider the lilies of the field” (Matthew 6:28-30). This simple yet profound instruction invites us to learn from nature. Taking a closer look at lilies reveals some powerful truths:
-
God Plants Them:
The lilies of the field don’t choose where they grow; they are planted by God. Regardless of their location—whether in Arctic-like regions, deserts, or open fields—God ensures they thrive. This teaches us that wherever God places us, no matter how challenging the circumstances, He has the power to sustain and beautify our lives. -
No Environment is Too Harsh for God:
There’s no setting too difficult for God’s provision. If He has planted you in a specific place, trust that He will enable you to flourish, just as He does for the lilies. -
Built-in Cure for Worry:
Interestingly, lilies contain compounds that have been used to treat stress, depression, and anxiety. This reflects a deeper spiritual truth: God has equipped each of us with the ability to overcome anxiety. That ability lies in placing complete trust in Him, our good and loving Heavenly Father.
Let the lilies remind you of God’s faithfulness and provision. Rest in the assurance that His care is perfect and His plans for you are always good.
