Obedience to God’s Voice is Our Defense

Bible Reading: Numbers 14:22-23

Memory verse: Isaiah 30:21, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”

There is one critical ingredient in the lives of those who walked in the blessing, from Adam to Jesus. They all built a relationship with God. What man lost in the Garden of Eden was not the ability to hear the voice of God, or relate with Him, rather, he lost the nature of God which is eternal life (the God kind of life). The very first thing God did after the act of disobedience was to speak to man, and He is still speaking, loving, instructing, and warning us. If we listen when He speaks to us, we get protected from the enemy of our soul.

It is critical that we listen to only His voice both inside us and through His word because that is the only way we can live the abundant life He promised us. His voice should supersede that of the people closest to you because the enemy will use someone you love to lead you into error if you let him. He used Eve to convince Adam to sin and tried to use Peter to advice Jesus not to go to the cross. Whose voice is he using to lie to you today? The father of lies is spreading subtle lies everywhere, but listening to God will keep you on the path of freedom and abundant life which He paid for you to have. Make your relationship and fellowship with God a constant priority 24/7.
