Our Bodies Are a Dwelling and Instruments

Bible Reading: Matthew 12:43-50

Special Verse : Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Surrendering Your Body to Know God's Will

The first step in knowing the will of God is to offer your body as a living sacrifice—holy and acceptable to Him. This is the foundation of true spiritual worship.

Why is this so? Because your body is the vessel through which you fulfill God's will. Your members—your eyes, mouth, ears, hands, feet, and everything your clothing covers—must be willingly surrendered to Him. You can choose to use your eyes to read the Word, your ears to hear it, and your mouth to confess it, or you can choose to do otherwise. It takes great discipline to dedicate these as sacred and holy unto God.

When we yield our bodies to God, our souls naturally desire to know His will through His Word. Conversely, when we surrender our bodies to sinful influences, we open the door to the enemy. Jesus warned about this in Matthew 12:43-44, cautioning that demonic spirits seek to take control when a person is not spiritually guarded.

Many times, we ask God to stop us from going to certain places or looking at things we shouldn’t, but He won’t override our free will. The choice is ours. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 that he disciplined his body and brought it under subjection—and so must we. This choice may be painful, requiring self-control and sacrifice, but it is worth it. Our bodies should be God’s dwelling place, not the enemy’s.
