Bible Reading: Matthew 7:7-11
Memory verse: Matthew 7:11, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
The Scripture passage above tells us that our heavenly father wants to give us good gifts. It is unfortunate that the average person thinks more highly of their earthly father than they do of God, our heavenly Father. We may not verbalize it clearly but we act like He doesn’t want us to have good things. This is a mindset we have cultivated over the years and must be dealt with if we will properly relate with Father God. He loves us and wants us to live well financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus, the beggar in Luke 16:19-31. Lazarus died sick and poor, yet he went to the bosom of Abraham, but Abraham, the father of faith, died rich, blessed on all sides, and healthy. In fact, the place for the righteous dead was named after him - the bosom of Abraham.
As children of God, we must decide how we want to live on earth, either like Lazarus or Abraham. It’s going to be our choice, not Father God’s choice. Do not be afraid of receiving good from Him because He is a good God. I personally like Abraham’s style – righteousness, health, and wealth because it reflects better on my Father
