Bible Reading: Philippians 2:6-11
Memory verse: Philemon 1:6, “That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
This is the story of Christmas. God took up human flesh and became like one of us. He was born to die, to redeem mankind from the curse of sin. Whenever you celebrate Christmas, remember that even before you were born or ever committed any sin, the ultimate price was paid for your salvation. God gave His greatest gift ever, Himself — His son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. If you understand this, you will realize that we never did neither will we ever do anything to qualify for the gift of salvation. Remember that salvation is not just about going to heaven. Salvation encompasses getting back everything that was lost through sin while living on this side of eternity.
God wants our life to be heaven on earth because of the first Christmas (nothing missing, nothing broken). Settle in your heart that you will take hold of all of them because they are ours. What is required of us is not just making Him savior but also Lord in all area of our lives. Jesus showed us what it means to be surrendered to God as a son. He was obedient even unto death as a result, He was exalted. Today, at the mention of His name, every knee bows, and tongues confess Him to be Lord. Today, He is no longer a baby in a manger but the King of kings and the Lord of lords!
