Bible Reading: Mark 1:21-45
Special Verse: Mark 1:22
"And they were astonished at his teaching because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the scribes."
People often say that talk is cheap, but that only applies when you speak like everyone else. It’s easy to talk about common struggles—sicknesses spreading around or inflation affecting finances—because such conversations are widely accepted. No one will challenge you for speaking the language of the world.
However, the moment you choose to speak differently—declaring God’s Word over your health, finances, and circumstances—you will face resistance. Friends and family may push back, feeling intimidated by your faith-filled words. Jesus set the ultimate example of this. He spoke with authority, declaring the truth of God’s Word, and as a result, He saw miracles—casting out demons, healing the sick, and providing for those in need. But this authority came at a great cost. It led to fierce opposition from the religious leaders of His time and ultimately to His crucifixion.
Speaking with spiritual authority will cost you something. It may stir up anger in those unwilling to change, as your words will convict them of their need to grow deeper in the things of God. It will also put the enemy on notice, causing him to retreat.
I challenge you to speak God’s Word instead of echoing the negativity around you. Walk in divine authority, knowing that while persecution may come, the power of God’s truth will always prevail.
