Bible Reading: Colossians 2:9-23
Memory verse: Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”
The mind is a battle field, on which we can receive freedom or be taken captive. Be aware that if you guard your mind, you will have no fear or worries about what Satan is up to. You will no longer be demon conscious. By drawing near to the Lord through His word, we resist the devil, and he automatically flees from us. We go into captivity through our life’s philosophy whether they are worldly or godly. We must choose not to pattern our thoughts to our environment or intellect, but rather think the Word. This takes a lot of discipline because everything else around us screams things contrary to God’s word. It is worse when even in the church or amongst children of God; human tradition takes pre-eminence over the Word.
The truth is that tradition makes you powerless while the revealed Word empowers you by the Spirit. You must ask yourself: Am I a traditional Christian or a powerful Christian? Christ demonstrated the power of God while He was walking the streets of Israel. The only way the world will believe He’s alive is by our doing the same.
