Raise a Standard

Raise a Standard

Bible Reading: Psalm 23

Special Verse: Psalm 27

“I would have fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

In the New Testament, God does not raise the standard for us—He raises it through us. Too often we are waiting on God to act, when God is waiting on us to rise up.  When evil news comes, it is time to allow the Spirit of God within you to rise and raise the standard of the Word of God. That standard is your confession.

Psalm 27 says, “I would have fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
That must be your confession: “I will see the goodness of God in the land of the living.”

I’ve learned to tell the enemy, “Do your worst. When the dust settles, I will still be standing.” Why? Because I hold on to the promises of God. I refuse to let go. I cling to them like a bulldog. I will not be defeated, because greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.  I know whom I have believed. I know the God I serve. If God protected me when I didn’t know Him, how much more now that I do? His love is everlasting, and He will pull me through.

When the enemy comes, you must speak. Like the story of Elisha and his servant, when the enemy surrounded them, the servant panicked—but the prophet said, “Those who are with us are more than those who are against us.”

When you don’t know God, fear dominates your life. That’s why people run everywhere looking for someone to pray for them instead of allowing the Spirit of God within them to rise up.  God has equipped us with great and precious promises. What are we supposed to do with them? Confess them.  When an evil report comes? You say, “I will live and not die.”
Your household is under attack? You say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Satan will test your persistence. He wants to see if you’ll give up. But you must decide, “I will see God’s goodness in the land of the living.”
