Remembering God’s Faithfulness and Choosing Peace

Remembering God’s Faithfulness and Choosing Peace

Scripture Reading:  Genesis 2:1-9

Special Verse: Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace,   whose mind stays on You,  because he trusts in You.

One of the most powerful truths about rest is found at the very beginning of creation. Man was created on the sixth day, after God had already prepared everything he would ever need. On the seventh day, God rested and sanctified that day.  This means the very first full day man experienced on earth was a day of rest.

God did not create man and immediately tell him to struggle, strive, and worry. He placed him into a finished work — provision already made, resources already available, purpose already defined. This reveals how deeply God values rest. Yet rest is often the first thing we lose when fear enters our hearts.

Jesus understood this when He said, “Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.” He spoke these words knowing He was about to be crucified. His disciples had left everything to follow Him, and suddenly their future seemed uncertain. Still, Jesus told them not to be troubled.  Why? Because when all is said and done, God wins — and so do His children.

What we are facing today will pass. Every situation has an expiration date. If it does not end in this life, it ends when we step into eternity, where God has already prepared a better place for us. That truth alone is enough to quiet a restless heart.  Resting in God is an act of faith. It is saying, “God, I don’t know how You will do it, but I know You love me, and You will come through.”   That kind of rest protects our hearts, preserves our health, and keeps our faith alive.

God invites us — again and again — to enter His rest.
