Restoration Is Still Possible
Bible Reading:: Genesis 35:1–7;
Special Verse : Genesis 32:28
Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”
Jacob’s story did not end in failure. After years of distraction, conflict, and compromise, God called him back to Bethel — back to the altar. Jacob obeyed. He purified his household. He buried foreign gods. He rebuilt the altar and God renamed him Israel.
Despite his past:
-
His deception
-
His exile
-
His divided household
-
His seasons of spiritual distraction
God was not ashamed to call Himself “the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
God did not erase Jacob from covenant history. He restored him.
Rachel, who clung to foreign gods, eventually passed away. Leah, often overlooked, was buried alongside Jacob. Sometimes the “Rachel” in our lives must fade for God’s true purpose to stand.
The powerful truth is this:
You may have wandered.
You may have delayed your destiny.
You may have forgotten promises.
But God has not forgotten you.
He is a Restorer. He waits for you to return to Bethel — to rebuild the altar — to put Him back in the center.
Your past does not disqualify you. Your return qualifies you.
Prayer:
Lord, I return to Bethel. I rebuild my altar. Restore what was lost and align my heart with Your purpose.

Is it time for you to spiritually “go back to Bethel” and recommit yourself fully to God?
