Bible reading: Matthew 5:13-16
Memory verse: Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
Many Christians lament about the decay of the society and how the church is being messed up by the world. It is impossible to be the salt of the world if you are trying to be like the world. From this scripture it is obvious that because many believers have lost their saltiness the world is trampling on them. Salting foods is a simple way used to preserve food years ago, especially when electricity was absent. This is because a level of saltiness can hinder the growth of certain microorganisms that cause food decay.
You may be asking, practically speaking, how can I be salt? It is simply by living according to the word of God and letting Christ be Lord in all you do. Let the power of God flow through you in every situation and stand for righteousness. When we live righteously, we push back the forces of darkness that want to engulf the world.
