Bible reading: 1 Peter 2:1-10
Memory verse: 1 Corinthians 3:16, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”
This verse completely testifies against the mindset many believers have that God can allow what happened to Job to happen to them. We have become the temples of God. God even told Solomon that he does not dwell in temples made with hands, but in living stones which we are because we are made in his image. This makes us superior to Solomon’s temple where people worshipped God. As a result, we have no business with sickness because it defiles God’s dwelling place. Jesus carried sickness so we don’t, and also became poor for us to be rich.
That is why his will is not for us to experience Job’s troubles. If you are faced with Job’s type of challenges, what you should do is to refuse to accept the report. Why are we willing to go to doctors to help us get sickness out of our bodies and still say that God Do not want us well?
Finally, the word tells us to resist the devil and he will flee. Luke 10:19 tells us that we have power against all the power of the enemy. Do not be a Job or have his “accept what comes to you” mentality. Actively resist the wicked one.
