Bible Reading : Ephesians 6: 10-20
Special verse: Psalm 91 :1
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” And then it continues, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I will trust.”
One thing I’ve learned is that it’s not enough to simply ask God to do things. There comes a point where you must take a stand.
We need to understand something very important: we live in a wicked world. Even as children of God, we are not immune to the attacks of the enemy. Satan has mastered his tactics, and Scripture tells us that he shoots fiery darts at believers. When those attacks come, they often come from places we never anticipated—places we never imagined we could be attacked from.
Our natural reaction in moments like that is to panic. We drop our hands, cry out, and say, “God, why is this happening to me?” But our first reaction when we come under attack is critical, because it sets the tone for the entire battle.
When bad news comes—whether it’s a frightening medical report, a life-threatening diagnosis, or news that your child has been in an accident—many people panic. They cry, scream, and feel overwhelmed. But this is exactly where we must learn not to panic.
That kind of response does not happen automatically. It comes from a relationship. It comes from dwelling in a strong place in God.
Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” And then it continues, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I will trust.”
Your reaction in a crisis reveals where you have been dwelling. If you have been dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, then when the fiery dart comes—when the enemy tries to set your life on fire—what will come out of your mouth is confidence:
“The Lord is my refuge. He is my fortress. In Him I will trust.”
One thing you must always remember is this: nothing that comes against you surprises God. He knows the end from the beginning. He has already seen it. God is not panicking. He is not confused. For every trouble you face, God has already provided a way of escape.
The New Testament tells us that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us. That means God has already equipped you in advance with everything you need to come out victorious. The strength, wisdom, and grace are already available.
That is why I always encourage people to build their relationship with God during times of peace—when nothing seems to be going wrong. That is the time to grow in confidence, to deepen your walk, and to truly know the God you call Father.
Many believers are overwhelmed because they don’t know Him personally. They don’t trust His love, and they don’t rest in His care. So when trouble comes, they fall apart like a $3 suitcase.. But no matter how bad the news is, God is bigger. His love is greater. His grace is more than enough to bring you through.
Scripture tells us that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask or think. Isaiah 59:19 says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise a standard against him.”
Remember to dwell in his presence so that when next the enemy attacks you will stand your ground in faith.
