Bible Reading: Galatians 3:14-29
Memory verse: Galatians 3:18, “For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
I rejoice that I am no longer under any curse because Jesus was made a curse for me when he hung on the cross. Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirement of the Law, so that it will no longer be the basis on which I come to God. I can come boldly in his name in to the presence of an all holy God and not be afraid of judgement. Many are still insisting on keeping to the Old Testament to be blessed and accepted by God, yet the Bible tells us we are already accepted in the beloved.
Christians should stop trying to earn holiness and righteousness by the law because they are already both. You can’t sit in a chair you are already sitting in. In the same way it is futile to try to be righteous when you are already the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The law was done away with by Jesus’ death so that the blessings promised Abraham might come to the Gentiles through faith. This is all about receiving what God’s grace has provided through faith in Jesus and living to glorify him because of what he did.
