Bible Reading: Luke 18:1-14
Special Verse: Luke 18:14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Most people believe God only answers their prayers when they have been good. An example is when we expect God to provide for us because we have tithed or given to his work. However, Jesus said that no one is good, only God is good (Mark 10:18). Thinking that God answers your prayers because of your works is trusting in your works and exalting yourself. Our good works are like filthy rags in God’s sight because God is holy beyond our comprehension.
One sin we commit will neutralize any good we ever do. As a result, true humility trusts only in the finished work of Jesus as basis for receiving from GOD. None of us is ever justified by our actions. Jesus paid the price we could not pay, thereby giving us full access to the throne. Today as you pray remember it is about the blood of Jesus. Come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy in your time of need.
