Bible Reading: Luke 8:4-14; Jeremiah 23:29
Memory verse: Jeremiah 23:29, “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
Although Christ has delivered us from the judgment of eternal separation, which we deserved as a result of sin, it is no excuse for us to sin or play with it. In the parable of the sower, the seed fell on some hearts, but it could not produce a harvest because of the thorns which grew and choked it. Thorns come from seeds which were in the soil, and I liken this to seeds of sin in our lives. It is important that we apply the weed killer, the word of God, to kill them. If we don’t do so, our lives will not produce the good harvest we so desire.
Finding scriptures relevant to your area of weakness, meditating on it until it enters your blood stream will act like a weed killer, which will kill thorns from their roots, and allow your harvest to come. Be decisive in dealing with sin by applying the Word to it. Don’t stay stuck in the rut when you have the Word. Rather, persevere in the Word until you experience freedom.
