Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 9:4-25
Memory verses: Psalm 75:6-7, “For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.”
1 Samuel 9:15-16 say, “Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, ‘Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.’ ” This is the story of how Saul became the first king of Israel. Think about it, Saul was busy minding his business, helping his father to find lost sheep. He never realized that the invisible hand of God was guiding him to his destiny. He never knew that his inability to find the lost sheep was all part of God’s greater plan to make him king of Israel. He woke up that morning a regular guy and slept same evening as the first person to be anointed king of Israel. He became a record setter without effort.
It is important that we wake up each morning expecting to walk into an unmerited divine blessing. The same way unplanned trouble comes knocking at your door; also know that more goodness and favor are on your way each day. The best things that happen to us are not earned but are received through grace. Today, trust God to order your steps into an undeserved promotion.
