There’s Strength in Unity

There’s Strength in Unity

BIBLE READING : GENESIS 11:1-7

Special Verse: Genesis 11:6

The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

The story of the Tower of Babel teaches us a powerful lesson about unity of purpose. No matter what limitations or challenges you face, if you can achieve unity within a couple, family, church, or team, you can accomplish what seems impossible. A key way to measure unity is by paying attention to what each person is saying. Speaking the same language—both literally and figuratively—means that everyone must share the same vision and agree to work together to bring it to life.

Consider the time of Nimrod, the first world leader. Despite the lack of modern technology or cranes to build skyscrapers, he was able to inspire his people with a vision of the impossible. Their unity and shared purpose were so powerful that it took God intervening to change their language and cause a breakdown in communication, which ultimately led to confusion and the collapse of their vision.

Today, make it your goal to work toward unity of purpose in your own situation. Remember, lack of vision and unity are often the real limits to what you can achieve. God desires to accomplish the "impossible" through us, but it requires that we see the vision, agree with those around us, and build together. Nothing shall be impossible, for the people are one.

GENESIS 13:9-18
When Lot and Abraham had land problems, Abraham decided to follow the path of peace with Lot. He asked Lot to choose what part of the land he wanted. Unfortunately, Lot chose to decide based on what he saw. He didn't ask God to help him choose. He also didn't think of the influence of the lifestyle of the people of Sodom on his family. He only looked at the financial benefits of his choice. He chose the lush land of Sodom and Gomorrah . While he lived in Sodom, his family got sucked into the culture, this resulted in his loosing his wife later. His daughters also committed incest with him because it was the life style they learned in Sodom.

Unlike Lot, Abram waited for God to lead him to look and choose. When Abram looked, God told him what to see. God spoke his destiny to him and through those words changed the productivity of his land. It also resulted in him receiving the land of present day Israel. This blessing can never be taken from him. If we are going to experience God's prosperity, we must look to God for direction and for his own vision for our lives. This can never be taken from you.
