We All Need a Day of Rest

We All Need a Day of Rest

Bible Reading: Genesis 1

Special Verse: Exodus 23:12

“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.

If God took a Sabbath rest after creating the world, so should you. God didn’t rest because He was tired, but to set an example of the importance of rest. When He gave Moses the law, He included rest as a mandate, emphasizing its necessity for our well-being.

Rest is not a luxury—it is a divine principle designed to rejuvenate your body and mind. Clarity, direction, and insight often come when we take time to pause. Taking one day off to rest can even be an act of faith, demonstrating that your provision comes not from your own efforts alone, but from God. When we trust Him enough to rest, He can supply what we could never achieve through endless striving.

Many people today suffer from stress-related illnesses because they continuously push themselves mentally and physically. Yet, God, in His wisdom, has already provided a solution—rest. Choosing to rest isn’t about legalism; it’s about wisdom. We are not smarter than God. When we honor Him in this way, we will find that six well-rested days will be far more productive than seven days of relentless labor.
