Who Is Your Rachel?
Bible Reading: Genesis 29–31
Special Verse: Exodus 20:3-5 KJV -
Thou shalt have no other gods before me
Jacob made a vow at Bethel. He promised God that if the Lord blessed him and brought him back safely, he would honor Him. But when Jacob reached Laban’s house, he fell in love with Rachel — and forgot his vow.
For 14 years, he labored. He worked hard. He was blessed — but he retained nothing. His life became like pouring water into a sieve. Laban prospered because Jacob was there, yet Jacob himself struggled to keep what he earned. What happened? Jacob removed God from the center and placed Rachel there instead.
Rachel may not be a person in your life.
Your “Rachel” might be:

A career
-
A visa or opportunity
-
Financial ambition
-
A relationship
-
Ministry success
Anything that takes your focus away from God becomes your Rachel. God did not leave Jacob. God patiently waited for Jacob to come back to his senses. When Jacob finally turned his eyes back to God and acted on divine instruction, everything changed. Strategy flowed. Increase followed. Exploitation stopped.
When God is out of the equation, progress drains away. When God is restored to the center, multiplication begins.
Prayer:
Father, reveal any “Rachel” that has taken Your place in my heart. I recommit myself to You today.
