It is foolish to ignore the warnings in God’s Word about willful sin and assume there will be no consequences. No one unknowingly carries fire in their hands without getting burned. Samson serves as a sobering example—he knowingly went against God’s will and his parents’ objections by marrying a Philistine woman. As a result, he suffered greatly, losing his sight and ultimately facing an untimely death.
Although God forgave Samson and answered his final prayer, his willful sin placed him in the enemy’s territory, where he reaped painful consequences. Likewise, when we suffer because of sin, it is not God punishing us but rather the natural outcome of what we have sown.
Today, make a conscious effort to resist sin by immersing yourself in God’s Word, where your true strength lies.
