BIBLE READING: MARK 11:10-24
Special Verse: Mark 11:23
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
This passage of scripture offers vital lessons for navigating life. One key takeaway is that Jesus spoke to the fig tree, and it responded, demonstrating that even inanimate objects can hear. This is why Jesus teaches us to speak to our mountains, assuring us that if we do not doubt, we will have what we declare.
Another significant insight is that the results of Jesus’ command were not visible immediately. It was the following day that Peter observed the fig tree had withered from its roots. This reminds us that when we speak to situations, immediate physical changes may not occur, but that doesn’t mean our words weren’t effective.
Notice also that Jesus didn’t turn this into a prayer request, asking God to kill the tree. Instead, He exercised His kingdom authority and commanded it to die. This is a principle for us to follow: speak with the authority we’ve been given. Refuse to let your senses or circumstances convince you that your words are ineffective. Trust in the dominion power within you, knowing that you will receive what you have declared and believed.
