You Can’t Put New Wine in Old Wine skins

Bible Reading: Matthew 9:10-17

Special Verse: Genesis 12:4 - "So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran."

To experience meaningful change in our lives, we must be ready to let go of certain old ways of thinking or doing things. One area I personally struggle with is thinking big. I have spent a significant part of my life being afraid to dream big, yet God continually reminds me that I must dream and imagine bigger because He is only limited by my imagination. I pray daily for God to help me enlarge my capacity to believe in Him so I can fully embrace all He wants me to be.

Another factor that often limits and hinders us from moving forward is clinging to old relationships and connections. There are people who are not meant to be part of our future, and we must be willing to let them go when God calls us to a higher place. This principle also applies to churches or jobs we’ve been part of for many years. When it’s time to let go, you’ll sense discomfort in your spirit as a sign. Do yourself and others a favor by moving on. For instance, Abram was never supposed to bring Lot along when God called him. Because he did, Lot ended up losing his wealth and family.

Walking away may hurt in the moment, but one day, you’ll look back and be grateful you obeyed God.
