You Have Like Faith

You Have Like Faith

Bible Reading: 2 Peter 1:1-7

Special Verse: 2 Peter 1:1

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Have you ever felt that the reason you didn’t see the answer to a prayer is because you didn’t have enough faith? Or have you ever been told that God didn’t answer your prayer because you had no faith? I am pretty convinced that the answer to both questions is, “Yes”. In writing his letter, Peter told the recipients that they have received a like precious faith. This means that faith is a gift and these believers have one that is similar to his. All believers are given a gift of faith at new birth through the indwelling Holy Spirit. The faith that brought you to God was from him. Paul supports this in Ephesians 2: 8-9 and Galatians 2:21. Paul lived by the faith of the Son of God not his. Looking closing at these verses, we can deduce that our problem isn’t an issue of faith but something else.

Later in verse 5, Paul admonishes them to add(contribute, furnish, supply) to their faith numerous things. This is because faith doesn’t work in isolation. Faith works with knowledge, virtue, self-control, perseverance, kindness and love. By exercising your faith with these attributes, we will have a productive faith and see the right results. Start exercising your faith, the more you do, they more victories you will see.
